Agago District (Agago District)
The Agago District is a Ugandan district located in North east Uganda.
Agago District is bordered by Kitgum District to the north, Kotido District to the northeast, Abim District to the east, Otuke District, to the south, and Pader District to the west. Agago, the location of the district headquarters is located approximately 80 km, by road, southeast of Kitgum, the nearest large town. This location lies approximately 370 km, by road, north of Kampala, the capital of Uganda, and the largest city in that country. The coordinates of the district are:02 50N, 33 20E.

Uganda is named after the Buganda kingdom, which encompasses a large portion of the south of the country, including the capital Kampala and whose language Luganda is widely spoken throughout the country. From 1894, the area was ruled as a protectorate by the United Kingdom, which established administrative law across the territory. Uganda gained independence from the UK on 9 October 1962. The period since then has been marked by violent conflicts, including an eight-year-long military dictatorship led by Idi Amin.
